Steps:

  1. Divide the players into three groups and one goalkeeper. One group of four defenders (red), who will defend the penalty area, and two groups of four attackers (blue and yellow).
  2. The game begins when one of the defenders (red) plays a ball out to one of the attacking groups (blue). Once the attacking (blue) team receives the ball they are trying to beat the four defenders (red) and score. If the defenders (red) win the ball, they then go on the attack and try to score on the goal the attacking team started at.
  3. If the attacking (blue) team decides they are unable to penetrate the defense (red) and score, they can lay the ball back to the second attacking (yellow) team. Once that happens, the first attacking (blue) group must spring off the field, and the second attacking (yellow) group is now trying to score.

Setup:

  • Half a field with one goal and a goal keeper. Two goals at the other end of the field made with flags or cones.
  • 13 players: (8 attackers (blue and yellow), 4 defenders (red), 1 goalkeeper)

Tips:

  • The closest defender should pressure the ball.
  • Try to force the attacking players with the ball to get their head down, limiting their ability to see the field and make a play.
  • Be patient, don’t stab at the ball.
  • Don’t let the player turn if his back is to you, a player can’t score on you if they are facing their own goal.
  • There should be constant communication from all the defending players to maintain shape and so a player will know where his help is.
