Steps:

  1. Make a field by extending the 18 yard box another 20 yards. Use two full goals with goalkeepers and start off with two teams of four and two players on the sideline.
  2. One team will start off defending (red) while the other team is attacking (blue). Start the ball with one of the goalkeepers. Once the goalkeeper rolls the ball out to one of his players, the game is live. The object is for the attacking (blue) team to try to score on the defending (red) team, and for the defending (red) team to try to prevent the attacking (blue) team from scoring. If the defending (red) team wins that ball, they are now the attacking team.
  3. If the attacking (blue) team has completed 5 passes and has not scored or lost the ball, the two players on the sideline join in on the defending (red) team to make it 6v4, in favor of the defending (red) team.
  4. Once the defending (red) team wins the ball back or concedes a goal, the two extra defenders (red) leave the field until its time for them to come on again.

Setup:

  • Field 40x40 with two full goals
  • 12 players: (4 attackers (blue), 6 defenders (red), 2 goalkeepers)

Tips:

  • The closest defender should pressure the ball.
  • Try to force the attacking players with the ball to get their head down, limiting their ability to see the field and make a play.
  • Be patient, don’t stab at the ball
  • Don’t let the player turn if his back is to you, a player can’t score on you if they are facing their own goal.
  • There should be constant communication from all the defending players to maintain shape and so a player will know where his help is.
