Steps:

  1. The field is broken into 4 zones. Each player starts off in his or her own zone. Play as a normal game.
  2. Two players from each team may be in whichever zone the ball is being played in. After the ball is played out of the zone, the two extra players must leave that zone.
  3. Once a goal is scored the attacking direction is reversed. Ex.: If the yellow team scores on the blue team, they would now be trying to score on the opposite goal.

Setup:

  • Use half of the field, breaking it into 4 zones shown in the diagram.
  • Two full goals -10 players: Two teams (4 yellow + keeper, 4 blue + keeper)

Variations:

  • Limit the amount of touches a player can take.

Tips:

  • When a team loses the ball, they need to recover on defense and position themselves between the player with the ball and the goal.
  • Have players focus on knowing where their player is that they are marking, but also where the ball is in relation to them.
  • This drill will also focus on one-on-one marking in a larger area.
