One misconception about being recruited to play soccer in college is that all good players will be seen, get recruited, and receive a scholarship. That is 100% NOT the case. College coaches are limited to the number of scholarships they have to give out each year, so chances of receiving a scholarship your first year are not that great. Obviously there are some exceptions, but we are talking about the majority of players here.

How to Create a Soccer Resume

Creating a good soccer resume is something that can be easy to do and it goes a long way toward getting your name and attributes out to coaches. It should describe your attributes as a player and list the clubs and high schools you play for, your accomplishments, important tournaments you have won, ODP experience (if applicable), and key references (ie: coaches, soccer directors, trainers, etc.).

Amateur League - Professional Development League (PDL)

The USL Premier Development League (PDL) is the amateur league of the United Soccer Leagues in the United States and Canada, forming part of the American Soccer Pyramid. It is currently the top level men's amateur competition in the United States, and has 63 teams competing in four conferences, split into eight regional divisions; unofficially, it is considered to be the fourth tier of competition, behind Major League Soccer, the USL First Division and the USL Second Division, and equal with the National Premier Soccer League and the Pacific Coast Soccer League.
