Steps:

  1. Set up a grid of cones (40x40) with goals placed randomly around the grid.
  2. The goals act as reference points to help players spread out, switch play, and support each other. To score they must make a pass through the goal to another player on their team. This forces players to find a goal (and space) that is open for an easy score.
  3. Once a point is scored on one goal the team must find another goal to score on before returning to the same goal. This forces players to immediately switch the point of attack after scoring a point.
  4. You will find that your players will hurry to find a goal and only focus on scoring points. You should emphasize that the objective is to keep the ball while scoring and that possession and patience is the most important part to reaching the goal. Players should not force the situation but rather retain possession for the team until an opportunity arises.

Setup:

  • Set up a grid, 40x40.
  • 10-22 players.
  • 8-10 sets of goals. (16-20 cones or flags).

Variations:

  • You can limit the amount touches available to each player to increase the speed of play and thought.
