Steps:
- The game is played on a half field space with 2 endzones marked out by goals about 10 yards from the sideline.
- Two teams play a normal game of possession. To score they must pass through to player making a run into the endzone. (See diagram). The player making the run cannot be in the endzone before the pass is made and must maintain possession for two touches for the goal to count.
- Each team can enter either endzone to keep possession or defend through balls. So if the pass comes late and the player making the run is already in the endzone then he/she can continue to play and keep possession.
- You will find that your players will hurry the attack and only focus on scoring points. You should emphasize that the objective is to keep the ball while looking for scoring opportunities and that possession and patience is the most important part to reaching the goal. Players should not force the situation but rather retain possession for the team until an opportunity arises.
Setup:
- Half Field space
- 2 teams of 8 or more.
- 2 endzone marked out with several cones.
Variations:
- You can limit the amount touches available to each player to increase the speed of play and thought.
