Halftime Coaching Responsibilities

Coaching Articles - Team Management
Friday, 03 August 2007
After the first half of the game you should find a meeting place for your team to rest and talk. If it is extremely hot or raining you should find some shelter for your team. Have your players sit down and rest while they drink plenty of fluids. Halftime is also about reviewing your teams’ first half performance. Based on your assessment you should make any necessary tactical adjustments and encourage your team for the next half. Be careful not to overdue the instructions because the players will be overwhelmed. Before heading back onto the field you should check for any injuries and have your players warm up with some light stretching for a few minutes to get them ready to play. The following is a checklist for you to go over:

-Find a proper meeting place
-Give you players rest and fluids
-Review the first half performance
-Check for injuries
-Warm up again
