Steps:
- Both players start at midfield.
- Player one (yellow) dribbles the ball toward the end line while player two (blue) tracks backward (while facing player one- yellow) in a defensive stance, trying to maintain a good defensive position.
- Once both players reach the end line they switch roles.
Setup:
- Half soccer field or equal vent size.
- Two players, 1 offensive (with ball), 1 defensive
Variations:
- Add another defender to track back behind the first defender.
- Require defender switch up his defensive stance, showing the offensive player both inside and outside.
Tips:
- Concentrate on defensive positioning.
- Stay in a low, staggered stance and on your toes at all times.
- Always keep your eye on the ball.
- Don’t be more than 2-3 yards away from the offensive player.
