Jumping Header
Ball Control Drills - Heading Drills
Sunday, 09 December 2007
Steps:
- To perform a jumping header, you need to keep your eyes open and on the ball at all times. As the ball approaches, jump in the air, arch your back and tuck your chin. As the ball arrives, snap your upper trunk forward from the waist and contact the ball on the upper part of your forehead (about your hairline) at the highest point of the jump. When heading the ball, you must keep your shoulders level and perpendicular to where you want to ball to go.
Tips:
- Dont allow the ball to hit you, meet the ball.
- Keep your eyes open - When heading the ball, the force you hit the ball with should come from when your arching your back and body and thrusting at the ball, NOT your neck.
