Steps:
- Set up a grid approximately (40yd x 40yd) with 2 large goals and 2 small goals in the center of each side. See diagram.
- The team in possession can score on either small goal and the large goal that they are not defending. Play a normal game with unlimited touches. You can make goals scored on the large goals worth double or make them worth all the same.
- Once a goal is scored possession is switched to the other team. First team to 10 goals wins the game.
Setup:
- Set up a grid 40x40.
- 10 or more players.
- 4 goals. 2 large, 2 small (2yds wide).
Variations:
- You can limit the amount touches available to each player to increase the speed of play and thought.
Tips:
- Encourage players to take advantage of numbers on the weak side and switch the point of attack quickly. The defense will shift to the side where the ball is and try to cover one of the goals. Successful teams will see this and switch to where there are less defenders and attack quickly before the defense can react and cover. If its not on right away to score then possess the ball and switch the attack. Eventually teams will get stretched out and spaces will open up for easy passing combinations.
