Game Simulation Drills - Fun Games
Written by Administrator Monday, 04 February 2008

Rules:

  1. Two teams of any number play against each other on a large field with 2 goals.
  2. To score, a team must head the ball into the opposing teams' net.
  3. A player in possession of the ball is allowed to take three steps with the ball before passing and has 5 seconds to pass.
  4. If the ball hits the ground at any point during the game the team that touches the ball last loses possession.
  5. This means the only way to win a ball is to intercept it in the air or force a bad pass without touching the ball.
  6. The game plays similar to basketball except the player in possession cannot have the ball striped from his/her hands. Only passes can be stolen.
  7. A player can be guarded closely but cannot be touched in anyway
  8. There are no restrictions on how many players can defend the goal.

Setup:

  • 10-20 players
  • 2 Full Size Goals
  • 1 Ball

Tips:

  • There are many lessons you can teach while playing handball. Point out to your players that keeping possession and being patient will lead to better scoring chances, that short passes will result in a higher success rate over long passes, and that good movement, communication, and teamwork will result in a better chance to win. This is a great warm-up game but you can use it to teach your players some simple lessons at the same time. Take advantage of this opportunity.
