Freeze Tag Dribbling Game
Freeze Tag Dribbling Game Drill Diagram

Steps:

  1. This game is intended for younger players who have learned the basics of dribbling.
  2. Set up a grid approximately (30yd x 30yd). See diagram.
  3. Choose two players to be "taggers" while the rest of the players start with a ball.
  4. The objective of the game is for the players with a ball to avoid being tagged by the "taggers". If tagged, a player is considered "frozen" and must hold their ball over their head and stand with their legs apart until they are "unfrozen". To get unfrozen, an  unfrozen player must dribble their ball through the frozen player's legs. This player is then free to dribble again and avoid the taggers while helping frozen players.
  5. The game contiues for 3 minutes or until all of the players are tagged. Choose two new taggers and repeat for another 3 rounds.

Setup:

  • Set up a grid 30x30.
  • 8 or more players.
  • One ball per player.

Variations:

  • None.

Tips:

  • Encourage players to use proper technique when dribbling the ball and be aware of where the taggers are at all time by frequently looking up while dribbling.
  • Encourage players to use different dribbling moves to avoid the taggers.
