Steps:

  1. See the diagram for starting positions. The objective of this drill is to work on finishing crosses and basic passing and trapping skills.
  2. The drill starts with the first player in the bottom right and top left cones passing the ball down line (#1) and following their pass (#2). The reciever then lays the ball off (#3) for a one-time cross into the middle (#4) for the forwards to finish.
  3. The drill repeats from the top right and bottom left cones so the forwards receive crosses from each side. Forwards compete for most goals in 5-10 minutes.
  4. Players stay on their crossing sides. All players should get a chance to play the forward position.

Setup:

  • 12 or more players.
  • Set of balls, 4 cones.
  • 2 goals.

Variations:

  • To add difficulty you can defenders in the box.
  • The pass down line can be made in the air.

Tips:

  • Start off slow and build up the speed of play. Before you add defenders all passes and runs should be executed quickly and at game speed without errors.
