3 Line Finishing #2 Drill Diagram

Steps:

  1. The objective of this drill is to work on a variety of finishing situations. See the diagram for starting positions.
  2. The drill starts with the first Blue player dribbling to the edge of the box (#1) and shooting on goal (#2). This player then turns (#3)and receives a pass from the first Red player (#4) for a give and go and a shot from the Red player (#5, #6). The Red player then turns (#7) to play defense against the two Yellow players. The Yellow players play 2v1 and use passing combinations and  off the ball to score a goal.
  3. All players return to their original lines and the drill continues until each player gets 3-5 shots. Rotate the lines clockwise when done. After each line has rotated to all stations you can then repeat the drill with the Yellow line shooting first and finishing with 2v1's on the Blue line.

Setup:

  • 10 or more players.
  • Each player needs a ball.
  • 1 goal and goalkeeper.

Variations:

  • To encourage shooting accuracy, you can have players do 5 pushups or situps for each shot off target after the round is done.
  • Every 2v1 that doesn't result in a shot on goal can also be punished with 5 pushups or situps.

Tips:

  • Players should work on proper technique when shooting and be aggressive when attacking 2v1. Use overlaps and give and go's to create an easy shooting opportunity.
