Steps:

  1. Set up a 30x30 grid with a group of cones in the middle of the grid. Line up an equal number of players at each end line. The first player in each line will have a ball
  2. One Player from each end line dribbles towards the center cones. When the players get within 1 yard of the cones in the center of the grid, they perform a move dictated by the coach. The key is for all players to move in the same direction. After they pull the move they turn and pass the ball to the next player in line, and go to the back of the line they started from. The player receiving the ball then repeats the process.

Setup:

  • Set up a grid, 30x30 yards with a group of cones in the middle of the grid

Variations:

  • Instead of the player passing the ball back to the next player in line, have them dribble back to the line and perform a takeover with the next player in line.

Tips:

  • Coaches Points: Once you get comfortable, try to keep your head up so you can see where you are going and you are not running into other players.
  • You should try to make every step you take a touch on the ball.
  • These drills are very helpful to train your feet and improve on your touch as well as learning new ways to control the ball.
  • These kinds of footwork drills are very important in order to build a good technical foundation as a player.
  • The players should be dribbling at game speed. They need to really sell the move as if there was a defender there
