GK Warm-Up 4

Goalkeeping Drills - Diving Drills
Wednesday, 12 December 2007

Steps:

  1. Start with the goalkeeper in a full size goal standing next to the post. Position one of the field players a little bit to the side and front of the post the goalkeeper is standing at, and the other field player at the penalty spot (12 yards out).
  2. This warm-up drill begins when the field player standing next to the goalkeeper on the post throws the ball low and toward the center of the goal forcing the goalkeeper to get down on the ground and make a save, once the goalkeeper saves the ball he/she must get up as quickly as possible and save a shot taken by the field player at the penalty spot. Once the goalkeeper saves the shot he/she must get back to the original starting spot and then the drill is repeated. Note: This is a warm up drill for the goalkeeper so make sure the shooter is taking shots that the goalkeeper can save so he/she can work on positioning while also warming up their hands and feet and becoming familiar with the field surface.
