Creating a good soccer resume is something that can be easy to do and it goes a long way toward getting your name and attributes out to coaches. It should describe your attributes as a player and list the clubs and high schools you play for, your accomplishments, important tournaments you have won, ODP experience (if applicable), and key references (ie: coaches, soccer directors, trainers, etc.). It should also be brief, no more than one page, and to the point. A coach’s time is very precious, so they want something they can look at quickly and get an overview of who you are as a player. It is also helpful to place a picture of yourself on the soccer resume. It personalizes you to the coach (you aren’t just a name) and if a coach comes to a game or tournament to watch you play, it helps that coach identify you.

While your soccer resume is primarily to highlight your soccer experience, it should also contain some information about your academic standing. Information such as your high school GPA, ACT or SAT test scores, academic awards/achievements, and participation in clubs. Coaches might be interested in you for their team, but you must meet the academic requirements of the school in order to be admitted before you have the opportunity to even step on the field.
