Every player can tell when they have a good coach or a bad coach. It has very little to do with their record and much to do with their personality and ability to teach the game. The following is a list of qualities a good coach should possess:

Passionate

When you are excited to coach your players will be excited to play.

Integrity

Set an example for your players by following the rules and showing good sportsmanship.

Set Challenging Goals

A good coach will constantly look to challenge their players so they are always learning something new.

Organized

The old adage “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail” is so true when it comes to coaching. Again set a good example for your players. Have a plan and they will follow you.

Good Communicator

Coaching is all about communicating to your players and being able to listen to their concerns. Good coaches will encourage feedback from their players and respect their opinions.

Educated

Good coaches do their homework. They learn the basic skills and have a good understanding of tactics, formations, laws, management, nutrition and fitness.
