Goalkeeper Positioning

It is important for a goalkeeper to stay in tuned with the game at all times.  Depending on where the ball is on the field and the position of each player, determines where the goalkeeper should be positioned.  For example, if play is on the opposite end of the field in the opponents attacking area, the goalkeeper would want to come off his line and push up to the top of his penalty box to be in a good position to support his defenders or act as a sweeper for any balls that may be cleared out of the opposing teams attacking end.  But if play is in the goalkeepers attacking end, the goalkeeper is going to want to stay within the six yard box to make sure he is in a good position to make a save if needed.  Take a look at this video for some more tips on goalkeeper positioning.
